Champagne Oolong

Our exquisite white tip "Bai Hao" oolong tea from Taiwan, smooth with muscatel notes that produces a sweet honey like aftertaste.

Known commonly as "Dong Fang Mei Ren" or "Oriental or Eastern Beauty". It was said that the origin of the name was derived during the early 20th century. When a British tea merchant acquired a sample to Queen Elizabeth and was then named oriental beauty.

As beautiful as it's many names, the true beauty lies within the leaves themselves. Bitten by green leafhoppers, which causes the leaves to release additional polyphenols, tannins, and aromatic compounds that act as a defense mechanism. The end result is a pleasurable honey like flavor. Young leaves and tips are used and then heavily oxidized 60-70% to achieve the slightly baked and woody flavor. Champagne oolong is orginally from Hsinchu county in Northern Taiwan, but due to it's popularity it has spread to other regions of Taiwan.
